Vitae Announces Winners of Essay Contest
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 1, 2011
(Jefferson City, Mo.) A generous grant from the Alphonse J. Schwartz Foundation funded an ad campaign on the St. Louis Cardinals Radio Network. This program is quite unique because in addition to the Vitae ads playing during Cardinal games, it also included an essay contest with the top prize of throwing out the first pitch at Osage County Night at the Ballpark on July 28. The contest engaged the younger residents of Osage County in the discussions of life issues.
“We were pleased with the essays that were submitted. Topics that were written about included abortion, bullying and child and elderly abuse. I was impressed that several of the essays included scripture quotes,” Stacey Kromer, Vitae Foundation’s Vice President, stated.
Over 350 tickets have been sold for fans to attend Osage County Night at the Ballpark where grand prize winner JoAnna Muenks, a sophomore from Fatima High School, will throw out the first pitch. Second place winner Taylor Otto, a junior from Fatima High School, will get to go to the broadcast booth and meet Mike Shannon and John Rooney. To read the winning essays, click here.
All winners receive four box seats to a Cardinal game. Additional winners include:

“I feel certain that the contestants’ parents and teachers are very proud that they accepted the challenge of writing an essay, put forth time and effort in its composition, and saw it to completion,” Kromer explained. “Likewise these students should consider themselves fortunate to have parents who have taught them the value of life and have set high moral standards for them. Most of all, I hope that the students are proud of themselves and take satisfaction in knowing that they did it!”
