Vitae Billboards Go Up in Dallas
(Jefferson City, Mo.) Vitae (Vee-tay) Foundation, a national non-profit organization which uses advertising and other mass media campaigns to reach women facing unplanned pregnancies, began two consecutive four-week billboard campaigns in Dallas on February 21. A total of 112 billboards will be posted. The billboards will advertise Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center (DPRC), which has three locations around the city.
“In this environment that is so hostile to Pregnancy Help Centers, we realize the important role they play in communicating with women who aren’t sure about continuing with a pregnancy,” Stacey Kromer, Vitae’s Vice President, stated. “We’re thrilled we can play a role in letting women know the Pregnancy Centers are credible, safe environments where they can get the information they need.”
One location is less than three miles from two major abortion facilities, Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center and Routh Street Clinic. At Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center, Dr. Curtis Boyd who performed abortions long before Roe v Wade was even filed in Dallas County, is attracting clients of the late-term abortionist Dr. George since he is able to perform abortions on women up to six months into their pregnancy!
In another first for Dallas, Vitae is using the DPRC’s phone number on the billboard. In past campaigns, a toll-free number was used, which directed women to call a Pregnancy Help Center in their area. Dialing a local number rather than a toll-free number provides added reassurance that assistance is available right in the caller’s area.
Vitae is also continuing to use Internet advertising to promote YourOptions.com on Google and the social networking websites Facebook and MySpace. With keyword advertising, Vitae buys words on Google like “pregnancy” and “abortion.” When a young girl or woman “Googles” these words, Vitae’s YourOptions.com website will come up high in the web search.
“We know women need to make an informed decision and a great place they can do that is at the Pregnancy Help Centers. They have no financial interest in whether a baby lives or dies. Their interest comes from the heart,” Kromer added.
In addition to Dallas, Vitae is sweeping the country with ads in February and March in Seattle, Los Angeles, Greater Kansas City area, Mid-Missouri, New York City and Boston.
